ANDERSON — Anderson County’s planning commission rejected a request Tuesday to rezone 26 acres near the East-West Connector to allow an assisted-living center there.
M&S Management LLC sought to have property near the intersection of Concord Road and the connector reclassified from residential land to commercial acreage to allow for the building.

Anderson County planning director Bill West said the rezoning request is the first the advisers have been asked to consider since elected officials moved in 2011 to create a special “overlay district” to protect residential land near the connector.
